Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data Reel collects and why. Reel is operated by Daniel Sogbey, a sole trader ("we", "us"). The short version: your recordings stay on your Mac.
What we don't collect
Reel imports and renders your video footage locally on your device. Footage analysis (finding moments in your recording) runs on-device too. We do not upload, store, or have access to your raw footage or rendered exports.
What we do process
- Purchase & account data. When you subscribe, our Merchant of Record Lemon Squeezy processes your name, email, billing details, and payment information to complete the sale. We receive your email, subscription tier, and billing status so we can deliver and verify your licence key. We never see your full card number.
- Licence & usage. We store your licence key, plan, and the number of videos rendered in each billing period to enforce plan limits.
- App Store listing data. The App Store link and review text you point Reel at are public listing data fetched server-side to generate hooks and ad copy, never anything you didn't already point us at.
- Footage metadata (never raw video). To direct camera moves, the app sends structured event metadata (timestamps, tap/scroll locations, moment boundaries) to our backend, which forwards it to our AI provider. Pixels never leave your Mac.
Third parties we use
- Lemon Squeezy: payments, billing, and tax (Merchant of Record).
- Anthropic (Claude): generates hooks from your App Store listing and camera-direction plans from your footage's event metadata, never raw video or images.
Data retention
We keep purchase and licence records for as long as your subscription is active and as required for tax and accounting. You can ask us to delete your data where we are not legally required to keep it.
Your rights & contact
To access, correct, or delete your data, email hello@usereel.dev. For payment data held by Lemon Squeezy, see their buyer privacy notice at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
